Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm Review

Nuxe's Reve de Miel Lip Balm is the product everyone raves about. It's been on my wishlist for years, and I was one very happy camper when I finally threw it in my shopping cart back in April. It comes in a luxurious looking glass pot, smells citrussy and contains amazing ingredients such as honey, plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence, which promise to nourish, repair, soothe and protect lips. I first noticed a rather interesting texture. I would describe it as thick and unpleasant. It was nothing like the moisturizing, buttery lip balms I was used to before. I wasn't impressed, but it was not a deal breaker for me. What did impress me, though, is that the formula somehow survives eating and drinking, so there is no need to reapply it every five minutes. 

My first impression of the product back in April was... I don't even know. I wasn't wowed by it, but I also wasn't disappointed. I was applying it every night and every morning before I went skiing whilst on vacation in the French Alps, and my lips never got chapped, so I thought it must do the job well and gave it a 'thumbs up'. Recently, however, I was dealing with a serious case of chapped lips, and decided to dug the balm out of the cupboard and take it for another ride. Unfortunatelly, it failed to deliver. I was putting it on at night before I went to bed and expected to see a miracle in the morning, but instead, it did nothing. It didn't do anything for my cracked lips, other than left a yucky looking film over them.

I haven't read a single bad review up to the point, so of course I was and still am very disappointed. I thought I was the only one with that kind of experience and already declared myself a freak, but then a few days ago, I came across another blogger saying the exact same thing happened to her. It turns out, it's not just me who doesn't like it and doesn't get the hype. I feel like the problem with this product is that it doesn't sink in. It just sits on your lips, creating a barrier, which might work to prevent your lips from getting dry, but it certainly doesn't do its job when your lips are already cracked and need saving. This product doesn't get my approval. I think it's overpriced and overhyped. I have plenty of other much cheaper lip balms that do the same or even better job...
