Gifts from Labello

Labello is one of those brands I've been using ever since I was little. I even remember collecting tubes of their empty lip balms at one point. I had a whole shelf of them! I guess I've always been a little weird...

I have to admit, for the past few years, I've been trying out so many different brands that I completely forgot about Labello. But the lovely PR team contacted me recently, offering me to try out some of their (new) product, and of course, I couldn't say no! I'm happy to report that the products are even better than I remember them to be.

My favourite one of the bunch is Coconut Lip Butter with Shea Butter and Almond Oil. It comes in a pot, so it's not necessarily the best product to use on the go, but it works amazing as a pre-bedtime treatment. It's buttery, moisturizes your lips, and smells heavenly.
The other two come in a tube packaging. They both feel buttery and make your lips feel moisturized as well. Fruity Shine Cherry also gives a lovely glossy tint to your lips, which makes it perfect for when you're wearing makeup and don't want to deal with potentially drying lipsticks. And it smells great! Like cherries, as the name suggests.

Repair & Beauty was the only lip balm from the package I wasn't too sure about when I first tried it on. It says that it repairs chapped, dry lips and gives them a healthy rosy glow, which is great, but since it contains menthol, it also gives you the tingling sensation that I hate from the bottom of my heart. Having said that, I actually did end up using it on a regular basis. The tingling sensation is luckily very mild and disappears rather quickly, so I don't even mind it anymore.

I will for sure be picking up more Labello products in the future. It's a shame I haven't been using them for the past few years because they truly are great.

My Go-to Fall Nude Lip Products

Kylie Jenner and her nude lips. She definitely brought back a trend that took the beauty world by storm. I myself have never been a fan of true nudes on me, because they simply don't suit me, but I've definitely grown to love slightly darker neutral shades as of recently. I'm not sure if these can be even classified as nudes, but they're my version of nude, so this is what I'm going to call them.
From L to R: Natural Beauty, Nude & Tack.

Essence 'Natural Beauty' Longlasting Lipstick: This one is my old favourite. I've repurchased it two times already and I feel like I'll be repurchasing it until I die. It's the perfect on-the-go shade with a slight pink undertone that seems to go great together with every single makeup look I wear. It has a permanent place in my handbag, not only because of its 'my lips but better' shade, but also because it's extremely comfortable to wear due to its creaminess.
Natural Beauty

Milani 'Nude' Color Statement Lip Liner: Telling you that I'm obsessed with this product right now is probably an understatement. I've been wearing it ALL THE TIME during the past month. It's just perfect and I'm so glad I have it in my possesion. I almost gave up on the search for the perfect nude lip liner, as I could never find the shade I was looking for. I hate how pretty much all of them are either full on pink or brown, but this one is right there in the middle. Love! So, we've established that the shade is awsome. How about the formula, you ask? It's flippin' amazing as well. It feels creamy but looks matte, so you get the best of both worlds - comfort and staying power.
Nude

NYX 'Tack' Color Lip Balm: I wasn't sure about this one when I first got it (I won it in a giveaway), because it looked burgundy in the tube, but once I applied it on my lips, I knew that it was a keeper straight away. A lip balm consistency makes sure your lips are nice and moisturized during the cold months, while the pigmentation leaves you with a nice dark pop of neutral colour. You can apply one coat if you want it to look suble or layer it up for a stronger effect. I personally also love wearing it over the Milani lip liner. Match made in heaven!
Tack

How are you feeling about the nude lip trend that is currently going on? Love it or hate it? What are your favourite nudes?

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm Review

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm Review

Nuxe's Reve de Miel Lip Balm is the product everyone raves about. It's been on my wishlist for years, and I was one very happy camper when I finally threw it in my shopping cart back in April. It comes in a luxurious looking glass pot, smells citrussy and contains amazing ingredients such as honey, plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence, which promise to nourish, repair, soothe and protect lips. I first noticed a rather interesting texture. I would describe it as thick and unpleasant. It was nothing like the moisturizing, buttery lip balms I was used to before. I wasn't impressed, but it was not a deal breaker for me. What did impress me, though, is that the formula somehow survives eating and drinking, so there is no need to reapply it every five minutes.

My first impression of the product back in April was... I don't even know. I wasn't wowed by it, but I also wasn't disappointed. I was applying it every night and every morning before I went skiing whilst on vacation in the French Alps, and my lips never got chapped, so I thought it must do the job well and gave it a 'thumbs up'. Recently, however, I was dealing with a serious case of chapped lips, and decided to dug the balm out of the cupboard and take it for another ride. Unfortunatelly, it failed to deliver. I was putting it on at night before I went to bed and expected to see a miracle in the morning, but instead, it did nothing. It didn't do anything for my cracked lips, other than left a yucky looking film over them.

I haven't read a single bad review up to the point, so of course I was and still am very disappointed. I thought I was the only one with that kind of experience and already declared myself a freak, but then a few days ago, I came across another blogger saying the exact same thing happened to her. It turns out, it's not just me who doesn't like it and doesn't get the hype. I feel like the problem with this product is that it doesn't sink in. It just sits on your lips, creating a barrier, which might work to prevent your lips from getting dry, but it certainly doesn't do its job when your lips are already cracked and need saving. This product doesn't get my approval. I think it's overpriced and overhyped. I have plenty of other much cheaper lip balms that do the same or even better job...

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Review

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Review

I purchased Elizabeth Arden's award winning Eight Hour Cream back in January for my makeup artist kit, but I haven't used it up until now. For the past few weeks, my lips have been extremely chapped. I tried every single lip product under the sun I have in my house and not one helped me. Not even the famous Reve de Miel Balm. But more on that later. Eight Hour Cream was my last resort, and it is the product I have to thank for saving my lips.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Review

The cream comes in a tube and is very thick compared to other creams, so I can't imagine putting it all over my face. I actually wouldn't describe it as a cream, because nothing about this product screams cream to me. The colour is not white but peach, it is a bit sticky, greasy, and smells very unique. I've been thinking about how to desribe it for hours, but I honestly have no idea what it could be compared to. You'll just have to go smell it yourself. Keep in mind, there are two different formulas out there - the original one and the fragrance free one. I have the fragrance free one, so I have no idea how the original smells like. Having said that, mine still has a scent even though it's fragrance free. I hope this makes sense.

As I have said, I use the product for my chapped lips, but apparently, it works for a whole list of other problems as well. To name a few, you can use it on your dry patches, cuticles, feet, sunburns, brows or just to add gloss to a model's lips/eyelids/cheekbones at a photoshoot. That's what I call a multi-purpose product! Also, did you know that this little miracle was created more that 80 years ago?! Amazing! Do you use it yourself?

My Winter Essentials

It's slowly but surely getting freezing cold where I live, so I've started changing up my skincare routine, adding warmer pieces to my closet, and cozyfying my room. Winter is not my favourite time of the year, because I'm not fond of cold weather and lack of daylight, but there are a few things that help me go through the season. I thought I would share these items with you today, so if you want to know what my winter essentials are, keep on reading. :)

1) My hands are the first to show consequences of cold winter weather. They get really dry, so I always carry a tube of hand cream in my bag. There are a few good ones on the market, but my absolute favourite is Soap & Glory's Hand Food. It does the job, smells super girly, and doesn't leave that annoying thick feeling on your hands after you use it, because it sinks in instantly. Unfortuantelly we can't get it in my country, so whenever I go to London, I always buy enough tubes to last me for at least a year.

2) I discovered the beauty and practicality of circle scarves two years ago and ever since then, we have been best friends. Last year I was wearing a black one (probably too much, since it almost fell apart at the end of the season), and this year I'm smitten with the burgundy scarf that is really similar to this one from Peter Hahn. As soon as the temperatures dropped below 15°C, it became one with my neck every time I leave my house. I can do without gloves  and hats unless it's really freezing, but I can't live without my scarf.

3) My hands are not the only ones suffering during the winter. My face is too. Well, to be totally honest, I have trouble with dry skin all year round, but especially during the cold time of the year. I'm constantly trying out new face creams for dry skin and so far, this La Roche Posay one has performed the best. I just ran out of it, so I need to go get a new one. Unless you have any other suggestions for me?

4) Another fashion winter essential for me are UGG-style boots. Some people love em', some people hate em'. I belong to the first category. I'm not gonna lie, I hated the look of these when they first became popular, but I think that was because I mostly saw them in photos of celebrities, who wore them during warmer months combined with jeans shorts. I still don't understand that phenomenon. Having said that, my opinion changed as soon as I tried them on myself when I was visiting Australia, which is where these shoes originate from. Let me just say that those people who are judgmental towards these shoes, definitely haven't had them on their feet yet. I feel like I'm walking on clouds when I wear them! Not to mention they are SUPER warm. They saved my toes from freezing countless of times. I have them in that exact dark brown colour, which I think is the prettiest. The shoes you can see above are actually from the company called Emu. Unlike UGG boots most people know and wear, these are actually made in Australia, have proper insoles and are apparently even waterproof. I now know which ones to get when mine fall apart. I'm predicting they will only last me one more season. Well, at least I can say I got a lot of wear out of them!

5) And we're back to dry skin problems. Of course, chapped lips also make regular appearances throughout winter. I'm good with any lip balm during most part of the year, but once my lips get chapped, there are only a few lip balms I can count on out there. One of them is this honey lip balm from Avon. Unfortunatelly, I used it up recently and since it's nowhere to be found anymore, I'll have to find a new dry lips saviour. Which one is your fave?

6) Now, my sister already scolded me for putting a candle on my 'essentials' list - apparently, I could only include food , warmth and love -  but you know what, I can't imagine any winter without candles. Who doesn't want her room to smell good and cozy, right? I feel like they make my winter depression a little bit more bearable, and you know what? Even my dad grew fond of them, haha. This is what happenes when you live with three females... :D

So, these are my main winter essentials. I would love to know what yours are, so make sure you tell me about them in the comments below.

Current Wishlist

1) NARS One Night Stand Cheek Palette: The moment I saw this palette, I knew that I have to have it. I've been dying to try out some NARS products for ages, especially their famous Laguna bronzer and the blush in Orgasm, but I was always put off by the hefty price tags. A single blush usually costs around $30, but this whole palette costs only $45 and you get six different shades, including Laguna, Orgasm, and another one of their best sellers - Deep Throat. If you already own a couple of their popular blushes, this palette might not sound like the most exciting purchase to you, but if you're a NARS virgin like me, it might be something that you desperately want to get your hands on. Just to warn you, this is one of their limited edition palettes from the Guy Bourdin holiday collection , so you'll have to be quick! I ordered mine from Space.NK., and is already on its way to my house thanks to Marvelle's help, as the direct delivery of the palette to Slovenia wasn't possible. Unfortunatelly, I think it is now already sold out on Space.NK., but if you live in the US, you can still get it here from Sephora

2) Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms: Revlon recently came out with Colorburst Matte Balms and even though I wasn't too big of a fan of their Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stains (review here), mainly because of their minty scent and waxy formula, I would really like to try the matte versions. I've read that their formula is a lot better and I'm currently obsessed with matte finishes, so I can't wait for these to hit our shelves. Or the UK ones, because I can get them when I'll be visiting London in January.

3) Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate: This is one of those luxury skin products every famous blogger under the sun has raved about. You're supposed to put it on before you go to bed, and then your skin should repair, regenerate and replenish itself during the night. The pure essential oils in this product are apparently great for dry skin and super soothing, so it should be a perfect little bottle to have on your night stand during the cold winter months. Now, I'm not quite ready to spend $46 on this just yet, but I'll definitely keep it in the back of my mind. In the mean time, I'm considering trying out either argan oil or coconut oil for my skin. Which one would you recommend?

4) Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm: This product is another one of those winter saviours everyone should try out at some point. From what I've heard, it's AMAZING for dry, chapped lips. I've had it on my wishlist for ages, but since I had a very nourishing honey lip balm from Avon in my posession until very recently, I didn't feel like I really need to run to the store and pick this one up ASAP. Now that I ran out of my Avon lip balm, though, this one from Nuxe will be my next purchase.

5) Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub: Another lip product I need to get my hands on is a lip scrub. I sometimes make my own one (video tutorial here), but I'm not gonna lie, I really prefer the Lush ones. I've been repurchasing Mint Julips for a few years, but after seeing tons of amazing reviews of Popcorn popping up recently, I think I'll give this one a go next time I manage to visit Lush.

6) MUA Velvet Lip Lacquers: I saw a review of these a few weeks ago, and my jaw dropped when I saw the swatches. I am not kidding you. The finish of these is divine! Unfortunatelly, all the shades are currently sold out, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will bring them back! Oh, and have I mentioned that they only cost three pounds!? Yes, three!

7) Em Cosmetics Contour & Highlighter Stick: Michelle Phan, the famous youtube beauty guru, recently came out with her very own makeup line, and one of the products that caught my attention is this interesting looking contour and highlighter stick. I love the concept and it seems like the product would be very easy to work with, so I would love to try it out one day.

8) Santhilea Magnetic Lash Mascara: I remember Estee blogging about this mascara (here) and her eyelashes looked amazing! This is definitely not your usual everyday mascara, because it gives a very bold, false eyeslashes kind of effect, which is why I think it would be nice to have one in my collection for special occasions. I love big lashes, but I don't think I will ever be brave enough to go out with fake ones on, so this mascara would be an awesome solution. Long voluminous lashes minus the fake lash irritation and the fear of ungluing? Yes please!

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm Review

maybelline baby lips lip balm review swatch pink punch quenched cherry me pink shock
Baby Lips Lip Balms are probably the most hyped up beauty products of 2013. Every beauty blogger has written about them, so it was only a matter of time before I would pick up a few myself. I got these four when I was in the US and wanted to blog about them months ago (hence my tanned arm in the last photo), but then I completely forgot about them and didn't even tried them out until fall arrived. So yes, this is a very long-overdue post, and now these lip balms are even avaliable in my country! You can get them at Müller, but not where the Maybelline stand is. I found them at the lip balm section.

The thing with these lip balms is... you're either gonna love them or love them. Nope, that was not a spelling mistake. I wrote 'love' two times. I haven't really read any negative reviews about these products, the only thing that half of the people are bothered about is that they too hyped up. Which doesn't mean that the products are bad. So, which group do I belong to? I'm kind of in the middle. Yes, there is nothing revolutionalry about these products, they're only tinted lip balms in a cute packaging after all, but I LOVE them! They are the most buttery and hydrating lip products I've ever tried, they smell amazing, and they give such a nice tint to your lips. You can see the swatches of the ones I have (L-R: Pink Punch, Quenched, Cherry Me, Pink Shock) below. As you can see, the colour payoff looks pretty ok for a tinted lip balm, but they actually look even more pigmented on my lips. Minus Quenched. That one is clear, so don't expect any miracles! ;)

I am a big fan of these and I think they're great handbag products that instantly make you look a bit more put together while keeping your lips moisturized and protected (they contain SPF 20) throughout the day. So, what are your thoughts on these? Do you love them, think they are overhyped or maybe even hate them? I would love to hear what you think!

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks Review

I haven't done a proper review in ages, but I've recently discovered some awesome products I want to talk about, so you can definitely expect a few more review posts in the following month.

Today I decided to write a review of the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks that I picked up a few weeks ago. What made me decide to get them is the fact that they are being compared to Revlon Lip Butters, which I've been dying to get since they first came out. The Revlon Lip Butters, however, are not sold in my country, so when I heard that these L'Oreal lipstick are very similar, I of course had to get my hands on them right away.

I bought three shades: 203 - Rock 'n Mauve, 202 - Impulsive Fuchsia, and 301 - Dating Coral. First of all, I really like the packaging. It doesn't look cheap like most drugstore packaging does, and it even reminds me of the gorgeous YSL lipsticks.

I've heard that the Rouge Caresse Lipsticks are cathegorized as tinted lip balms, so I expected them to be much more sheer than they actually are. As you can see on the photo below, they are quite pigmented and can be built up to look even more intense.

These lipsticks seem perfect for the summer. They come in several different summery shades, have a glossy finish and just glide on your lips. They also feel very moisturizing, but unfortunately, this feeling doesn't last long on my lips. The product dries out rather quickly, leaving my lips tinted but not moisturized, so I have to re-apply it at least every hour or so.

P.S. I'm not sure about the price in other countries, but in Slovenia, the lipstick costs about 12€.

Are you also planning to try this product out? What do you think about it if you already own one?
