The Body Shop Down to Earth Eye Palette Review

The Body Shop Down to Earth Eye Palette Review

Body butters and skincare in general are what always crosses my mind when I think of The Body Shop. I'd never tried their makeup before, but they've been stepping up their game recently and I'm more and more intrigued by it. About a month ago, they came out with their new Down to Earth range, which includes one bigger eyeshadow palette with eight different shades (22 GBP) and five quads (15 GBP), one of them being 'Smoky Grey', which I've been trying out during the past few weeks.

Firstly, I have to give them 10 out of 10 for the packaging. It's sleek, sturdy, easy to clean, and the palette come with a handy and rather big built-in mirror as well. You get 2.2 g of product in each pan, and guess what? Every pan is removable with a very fuss-free click-out-click-in system, so you can easily switch the shades between the palettes if you wish so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the launch of compatible individual shades!

Perfect for day-to-night looks, the Smoky Grey palette has two lighter and two darker shades. India Rose Quartz is a nice metallic champagne colour, Atlas Rhassoul a dark matte grey, Cerro Rico Silver a light glittery grey and Siberia Anthracite a dark metallic grey. I almost don't want to call the grey shades grey, though, because they look quite unique, with a brown/slightly olive undertone.

The texture could be described as a mix between silky and powdery. Unfortunately, I did experience fallout with some of the shades and I can't say that the eyeshadows are insanely pigmented, but they are builadable and they blend out beautifully, which is what impressed me the most. Wearabilty is also quite nice. They don't crease and are longlasting, however, they do begin to fade after a while.

P.S. I also filmed a 'first impressions' review + demo for my YouTube channel, so feel free to give it a watch if you wish to see how the eyeshadows look like once applied and wear throughout the day.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review

This week is all about the Naked 3 Palette here on my blog. I know I'm probably the last person to blog about it, but I've only just started using it a month ago and I really wanted to properly test it out before giving you a full review.
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ReviewLet's start with the packaging. I love that it is not velvety like the Naked 1 Palette, but made out of metal. This means that you can easily wipe all the dirt off and don't have to deal with dust sticking on it. I absolutely hate that about the original Naked palette. The packaging also feels very sturdy and comes with a big mirror inside, which I really started to appreciate back in the summer when I was in the States. Our bathroom had the worst lighting, so doing makeup in a mirrorless room in front of a window was very necessary. All the mirrors that came with products were life savers! Urgh, I'm drifting off topic again, aren't I? Back to the palette. The only thing I don't like about the packaging is the wavy surface. To me it just looks like someone forgot to take the protective plactic foil off, but since this is more of a personal preference and not something that would disturb the quality, I can disregard it.
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review

Inside the palette, there are twelve eyeshadow shades with the obvious rose gold theme. The first half of the palette is lighter in colour and warmer, while the second half contains bolder and more cool toned shades. I personally feel like the palette doesn't function as a whole like the previous two do. Don't get me wrong, I love the shades, but I feel like you can't create such a variety of looks that you can with the Naked 1 Palette, for example. Mixing light warm shades with cooler bold ones can be a little bit tricky. I see this palette more as a bonus, rather than a basic palette. If you're looking for only one that has tons of shades you can mix and match, I would rather go with either Naked 1 or Naked 2. But if you're like me and are only looking to add new shades to your collection, this one is a great catch. It has a bunch of pretty and unique shades that can be paired up with other eyeshadows from your collection. I'm not saying that you can't use it all by itself, because you definitely can, but I just don't find it AS versatile as the previous two palettes.
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette SwatchesIf we take a closer look at the first six shades, you can see that they have a very smooth surface apart from Dust, Buzz and Trick. These are the shades I would describe as glittery, as they contain bigger chunks of glitter. I didn't have any problems with Buzz or Trick. They feel very buttery, apply smoothly and perform great throughout the day. Dust, however, is a totally different story. This is the one shade from the palette that really disappointed me. It feels chalky, looks chunky, and is not very pigmented. It just has glitters. The consistency is really weird compared to the other shades from this palette and is definitely the odd one out. I just don't like it. Period. The other shades left from the first half are Burnout, Strange and Limit. Burnout is a lovely shimmery shade, which is a little bit darker than Dust and fortunatelly nothing like Dust when it comes to the quality. It's nicely pigmented and applies like a dream. Then we have Strange and Limit. They are matte shades with which Urban Decay never impressed me. They definitely have the shimmery shades down, but their matte ones from the Naked 1 Palette were a bit 'meh'. These two, on the other hand, were lovely surprises. They're not giving the Lorac Pro ones a run for their money just yet, but there's an improvement. They don't feel chalky, are pretty pigmented and are great additions to the palette.

Moving on to the darker shades, the first one is Nooner, another amazing matte shade. Liar, Factory and Mugshot are all shimmery and pretty much identical in consistency as well as performance. When I first saw them in the palette, I thought that they looked way too similar, but when I swatched them on my arm, they luckily turned out different. Still, I personally am not over excited about them, because I feel like I already have similar shades in my collection. Next is Darkside, a shade with a silky consistency and a unique sheeny finish. I don't even know how to describe it. It's not matte, it's not shimmery, but somewhere in between. I expected it to be a lot darker and pigmented that it actually is to be honest. I feel like this is another shade that is in need of improvement, but just to make things clear, it is nowhere near as bad as Dust. And now last but certainly not least - Blackheart. Wow, just wow. It's such a unique shade! Black base with pink glitters couldn't get any better for creating smokey eye makeup looks with a twist. I do have to say, though, that the consistency is similar to Darkside, meaning that the pigmentation could be improved. Unlike the shimmery shades, these two both need to be built up to shine in all their glory.
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review

Before I conclude the post, I also have to mention that the palette comes with a double sided brush and four eyeshadow primer testers. I haven't tried any of those out yet, so I can't really comment on them, but I know that the original primer potion is amazing, as I got one a few years ago with my Naked 1 Palette. I'm expecting others to be great as well, I just wish they would include a full or a sample product instead of these four testers, because I don't find them very practical.

So, these were my thoughts on the Naked 3 Palette. All in all, I like most of the shades, but I feel like it was not as thought out as the other two were. Compared to the shades from the Naked 1, some of the Naked 3 ones lack in the quality department. I can give Urban Decay another A+ for their shimmery shades, and a stamp of approval when it comes to improving the quality of matte shades, but Dust, Darkside and Blackheart could be a little bit better. Especially Dust.

Those of you who already own this palette, what are your thoughts? And for those of you who haven't bought it yet, are you planning to get one? By the way, I bought mine here.

Ingrid Eyeshadow Palettes Review

Ingrid Eyeshadow Palettes Review
I have two more products that I got from bodizenska.si to share with you. I already talked about their Ingrid eyeliner here, but today I'll be reviewing two of their eyeshadow palettes. The first one's called 'Pret-a-Porter Number 3'. It includes five matte eye shadows that are not extremely pigmented with one swipe, but you can definitely build them up and make them work by using a primer underneath. Generally, matte drugstore eye shadows are not great at all, so I wasn't expecting much when in comes to this palette, which by the way costs 5€, but I would like to point out the middle shade and the one on the right. I'm not too bothered by the other three, but the pigmentation of these two seems pretty amazing for the price!

Ingrid Eyeshadow Palettes Review
The eye shadows itself feel a bit powdery and I wouldn't agree that they last 16 hours on your eyelids. Since they are rather sheer, they tend to blend into one another rather quickly and slowly start looking softer and lighter. If you're a fan of light, neutral everyday looks and are not looking for super pigmented shades, I would definitely recommend you to check this palette out, since it really is cheap and you have nothing to lose.

Ingrid Eyeshadow Palettes ReviewThe second palette I got for the review is also from Ingrid Cosmetics. It's called Beauty Five Number 5 and has five shimmery shades. Again, the eye shadows are not particularly long lasting, but they are less powdery and the pigmentation is definitely better.

The two eye shadows on the right are great in terms of quality and colour payoff, and that redish shade isn't bad either, but I personally am not fond of the lighter two. They contain some glitters and are shimmery in that weird hooker cheap way, if you know what I mean. Having said that, this is another 5€ palette, so if you don't already have similar colours in your make-up collection, I would get it just for the last two shades, which are definitely worth the money.

Are any of you familiar with Ingrid products or have maybe even tried some? I would love to hear your opinions about them!

Wet'n'Wild Comfort Zone Palette Review

I am the worst beauty blogger. Ever. Recently, Andrea sent me some Wet'n'Wild eyeshadows as a part of my Secret Santa gift, and I just realized that I still haven't even reviewed their Comfort Zone Palette that I got back in August when I was in California. I have no idea how it slipped out of my mind! I even took photos of it as soon as I came home and have been using it ever since, so I don't know what happened.

Before I picked up the palette, I've heard nothing but good things about it, so my expectations were high, but I honestly didn't expect it to be THAT good. The pigmentation is just crazy! I mean, look at those swatches! It is quite hard to believe that this palette costs only $5. The eyeshadows feel very buttery as well, which is another plus, and they also blend well and last long on my eyelids. Having said that, they do keep fading throughout the day, but for the price you pay for them, they are still very good and far better than any other drugstore eyeshadows I've tried.

Wet'n'Wild Comfort Zone Palette Review & swatches

What I also like about this palette is the shade selection. It contains the perfect mix of neutrals, and there are also a few extra interesting shades thrown in. The duochrome one is especially interesting, I think. The only one I stay away from is the light green shade, but that's just because I feel like it doesn't suit my eye colour or my complexion. As you can see, all the shades are shimmery, which I personally really like, but if you're not a fan of them, you won't be a fan of the Comfort Zone palette.

Now, I want to mention one more thing and tell you what I don't like about this palette. The packaging. It looks very cheap, which I could disregard since the palette is literally cheap, but I have to mention it, because it is the reason why the eyeshadows shatter into a million pieces in case you're clumsy like me and accidentally drop things. It has happened to me twice already with this palette and it never ended well. Luckily, I know how to fix shattered eyeshadows (if you want to know how to do it check out this video), but it's still very annoying.

LORAC PRO Palette Review

Out of all the reviews of products I got in the US, most of you wanted to see a review of the famous LORAC PRO palette first, so I guess it's time for me to introduce you to this amazingness that I can't imagine not having in my life anymore.

lorac pro makeup palette eyeshadow eyeshadows review swatches beauty
The LORAC PRO Palette contains sixteen fabulous eyeshadows, but before I start talking about those beauties, I first want to mention a few things about the packaging. First of all, it is very thin and light, which makes it perfect for travelling. It has a strong magnetic closure and I honestly don't have a feeling that the eyeshadows would shatter if I drop the palette on the floor. Another good thing that some of you might like is that it also has a pretty large mirror, which can definitely come in handy when you're on the go or without any decent close-up mirrors in a hotel room, for example. It has happened before... :D

As you have probably already noticed, this will be a very positive review, but that doesn't mean that everything about this palette is perfect. There are actually a few things that bother me. First of them is the material the palette is made of. It feels like cardboard and I'm really afraid that it will fall apart eventually if I'm not particularly gentle with it. Another thing that bothers me when it comes to the material is that it looks like it was made to attract dirt. If you have the original Naked Palette you'll know how dirty its velvety packaging can get, but this one is even worse! And also, there is no way you can keep it clean even on the inside, because the pans are so tiny that the eyeshadow powder goes everywhere when you start putting your brushes near the eyeshadows. It's just a big mess. Unless you're really careful and only gently place your brush on the shades. But nobody's got time for that. Right?

Now on to the good stuff again. As I have said, this palette contains sixteen eyeshadows. Half of them are shimmery and the other half are matte. There are quite a few neutrals in this palette, but there are also some darker shades, which can be used for creating more smokey, nightime looks. Apparently, the eyeshadows can be applied dry or wet, but I can't really comment on the wet application, as I haven't tried it yet. I'm pretty sure it works just as amazing as the dry application, though. Ok, moving on. The eyeshadows are EXTREMELY pigmented. I've found quite a few amazingly pigmented eyeshadows so far, but none of them were matte. In this palette, however, ALL the eyeshadows are extremely pigmented. Not just the shimmery ones. The matte ones as well. Omg, I can't tell you how much I love them! Just as the pigmentation, everything else about them is pretty much perfect as well. They are smooth, silky, blendable and last for ages on your eyelids. They just don't slide down or fade. All in all, I adore them. I would marry them if I could. I'm serious. This palette is definitely the best make-up purchase I've ever made. Now, run to the store and get one for yourself if you haven't yet!

P.S. Along with this palette, I also got a primer, but I haven't tested it out properly yet, so the review will be coming up a bit later.

50 Shades of Mint

Ok, maybe more like 10 shades, not 50, but you get the idea. Pastel mint is my favourite colour, so there's no surprise that a big chunk of my nail polish collection consists of mint nail polishes. I had a few people ask me to do the comparison of them all, so this is what you'll be seeing today!

Let's start with the first group. From left to right we have: Essie Mint Candy Apple, Essence Replay, Deborah Milano 04 100% Mat, American Apparel Office, and OPI Mermaid's Tears.

And in the second group there are (also from left to right): Essence You Belong to Me, China Glaze For Audrey, Barry M Greenberry, Kiko 389, and Essence I Like.

Which one do you fancy most? My personal favourites are Essie's Mint Candy Apple, Barry M's Greenberry and 389 by Kiko! :)
