Hi, I'm Susi, a blogger for Arcadian Lighting, where I write about lighting ideas and trends for the home. I love getting out and visiting different design blogs, so I'm excited to be here at The Puzzle of Sandra's Life today. Dorm rooms are notoriously impersonal spaces. From textiles and pillows to light fixtures, here are some ideas to warm up for a dorm room and make it feel more personal and cozy. Enjoy!Warm up a dorm room both visually and comfortably with textiles. Piles of pillows, cozy throws, comforters and coverlets can all create an inspired space that is also cozy.
Bold, bright colors in throws and pillows warm up this dorm room. Custom DIY headboards of burlap add great texture and create the perfect backdrop for all that cozy color.
This image is a little blurry but it is such a great dorm room that I just had to use it. This is a fantastic example of how textiles and bedding can warm up a dorm room. Curtains are a must for softening the window and providing privacy. The clever little wall lights are perfect for reading or studying in bed.
Warm up potentially cold dorm room floors with an area rug. Traditional or contemporary patterned rugs warm up the space, and also add color and pattern.
Pops of color and a lovely table lamp warm up the sleeping area in this dorm room. Pretty bed linens that are also cozy are a great choice to warm up the space.
Color on the walls in the form of stripes warm up this dorm room. Since most dorms do not allow you to paint, think about using fabric and starch to add color and pattern to the walls.
Twinkling white lights are popular in dorm rooms for the soft, warm light they provide. I love this idea to use them as a lighting fixture and to hold postcards and pictures, too.
Replace dorm room furniture with flea market and thrift store finds to create a warm and stylish space. If you can't put the dorm furniture in storage, cover it with throws and textiles that have great texture and pattern.
If you're leaving home for the first or returning to dorm life, it can make a huge difference to have a warm, welcoming place to come back to after class. Stop by Arcadian Lighting's blog for fresh ideas and inspiration for your dorm or home decor needs daily! (Images: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
