The Konjac Sponge Company Red French Clay Konjac Sponge Review

The Konjac Sponge Company Red French Clay Konjac Sponge Review
I bought my first konjac sponge in 2012. Back then it was super hard to get them in Europe, so I ordered it on ebay for a couple of bucks and excitedly waited for it to arrive. For about a month, as you do. Unfortunately, my initial excitement soon got replaced with the 'face with rolling eyes' emoji expression, as the 'next big thing in beauty' did NOTHING to my skin. I was so disappointed I refused to try any others, but when The Konjac Sponge Company got in touch with me a couple of months ago, offering to send me one, I thought why the hell not, and finally gave it another go. They say everyone deserves a second chance after all.
The Konjac Sponge Company Red French Clay Konjac Sponge Review Dry Skin
My expectations weren't high this time around, as you can imagine, but I'm happy to report this one turned out to be a winner. I went with the red french clay version, which is supposed to be perfect for dry, damaged and mature skin, as well as skin problems such as eczema and rosacea. I've been using it either once or twice a day along with my La Roche-Posay Cleansing Cream over the last few months and one thing I've noticed is that it really helps to keep my dry patches at bay. I haven't had any problems with dry skin recently, all thanks to its awesome exfoliating properties. I used to use the slightly abrasive Cattier White Clay Scrub at least twice a week to scrub away my flaky skin, but I haven't had to use it once since this konjac sponge came into my life. I still love that scrub and will probably have to start using it again with winter coming in, but for now, the konjac sponge is doing the job better than expected. It's very gentle in comparison and always leaves my skin silky soft. Double yay! Are you using konjac sponges? What are your thoughts on this Korean phenomenon?

Cosmopolitan Blend Perfection Sponge Review

Beauty Blender has been one of those things I've been dying to try out for ages, but I just couldn't justify the price - it costs about 19€. Luckily, I didn't buy it right before Christmas as I'd been contemplating to, because I think I've found a pretty good and a lot cheaper dupe. Now I'm not going to say that this sponge is just as good as the Beauty Blender, because I obviously haven't tried the beauty blender, but it works fantastic for me, so I'm glad I haven't made that splurge.

In case you have no idea what I'm currently talking about, both Beauty Blender and the thing I'm going to talk about today - Cosmopolitan Blend Perfection Sponge - are make-up sponges used to apply foundation. But they are not your normal, triangular looking sponges that you normally see at a drugstore. To use them properly, you have to wet them under under a tap, squeeze out the excess water and then apply your foundation using the damp sponge. I apply my foundation by putting some of it on my hand, dipping the pointy part of the sponge in it and then tapping it on my face. After I put it on my face, I turn the sponge around and use the flat part to blend it in with the same tapping motion. I'll be publishing my 'Get Ready With Me' video in a couple of days, so you will be able to see how exactly I do it.

As I have said, I use the sponge to apply my (liquid) foundation and I also started using it for my concealer. I'm seriously impressed with how it works. You can see how it makes my skin look like in the above photo (I'm wearing Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation - full review here). It doesn't make my foundation look cakey and gives me the most natural look. I don't know how to explain it, but it sort of makes the foundation less thick and therefore more natural looking. The foundation does end up being a bit more sheer, though, but if you need more coverage, you can totally build it up. Right now, I prefer using it over all of my foundation brushes, even my favorite Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush. You can get the Cosmopolitan Blend Perfection Sponge here for only 7€, which makes it three times cheaper than the Beauty Blender. So, who else is in love with this amazing invention?

Konjac Sponge

A few weeks ago, I ordered a product from Asia, and it finally arrived. I'm really excited to talk about this thing. It's called a konjac sponge, and apparently, it's going to be the next big thing in the skincare world. Some people claim that it works just as good (or even better) as the famous Clarisonic. And what is the best thing about it? It costs just a couple of euros!

Konjac sponge is 100% natural, biodegradable and has no coloring. It is made from fibers of a plant called Konjac, which grows in the subtropical/tropical part of East Asia, and can be used on any type of skin - it was originally intended for baby skin, so it shouldn't irritate even super sensitive skin.

The sponge is supposed to exfoliate, deep cleanse and naturally moisturize your skin. It is also supposed to bring natural shine to your skin, and remove blackheads, dirt and oil. To me, this sounds like a miracle product. Don't you think so? Ohh, and by the way, you don't need to use any cleansers with it. The only thing you have to do is wet it and massage your skin with it.

I haven't used mine yet because I just got it in the mail, but you can definitely expect a full review in about three weeks. I really want to see if it is as good as it sounds!

P.S. You can buy it here
