Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick Review

Girls, I think I've found a dupe for the amazing Clinique Chubby Sticks (review here)! It's Bourjois' Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick. After being pretty disappointed with another supposed dupe - Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (review here) - I didn't want to get my hopes up too high when I decided to give this lipSTICK a try, but it pleasantly surprised me.

It is just as moisturizing and buttery as the Clinique Chubby Sticks, it is not sticky, and it gives you a pretty glossy-like finish. The only difference is that this product is not as sheer. It's quite pigmented. It also has an SPF 15 and is supposed to be waterproof, which makes it perfect for summer.

The waterproof statement came as quite a surprise to me, because I'm not used to lip products being labeled as waterproof. You usually only see this when it comes to mascaras. Of course I had to test it out right away, so I put the lip product on and put my face under a tap. The things I do for reviews... Lol! Just kidding. No, but I really did put my head in the sink and poured water all over my face. So, how did my little experiment go? The lipstick really did stay on, but it felt quite waxy after and also didn't look too pretty. It was very patchy and just ewww.

The shade that I own is 'Peach on the Beach', and even though I'm totally in love with the formulation, I don't think I'll be able to wear it during the summer. It looked great on me a month or so ago, but now that I'm getting more tanned, it doesn't really suit me anymore. I wish I was able to swatch all the shades before I ended up purchasing this one, because I would probably go for something less orangey pink. I got it in France and they didn't have one single tester! You couldn't even see how the colours looked like in person, because every single product had its own cardboard/plastic packaging. Quite annoying to be honest. Are makeup products sold like that where you live as well? We just have them on stands and there are usually always testers, so you can swatch you life away!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review - Lovesick

The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains have created quite a stir in the blogging community. I haven't seen one negative review, and after hearing about the comparisons to my beloved Clinique Chubby Sticks, I couldn't wait to get my hands on them whilst in London. The balm stain that eventually came home with me is a bright pink shade called Lovesick

To be honest, I'm not head over heels with this product like I'd thought I would be. It's far from being a bad product, but it can't measure up with my Clinique Chubby Sticks. Clinique Chubby Sticks are far more balmy and moisturizing than this Revlon Balm Stain, but it is also true that the Revlon Balm Stains seem to be more pigmented. The color payoff of the shade Lovesick is great, especially when you build up the color.

Even though I have to disagree with the word 'balm' being used when it comes to this product, the 'stain' part is definitely true. After the lipsticky layer of the product wears off in an hour or so, your lips remain rather strongly stained for a few extra hours.

The last thing that needs to be mentioned is the smell. Most of my lip products do not have a particular smell, so I was quite surprised when I first put this Balm Stain on my lips. It has a strong minty smell that some people might love, but I can't say I'm too fond of it myself. Probably because it reminds me of those terrible plumping lipglosses that sting and numb your lips. Thankfully, this Balm Stain does not cause any discomfort, so who knows, I might even end up liking the smell after I get used to it.

All in all, I would say that the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are good products, but not great. I prefer the Clinique Chubby Sticks, which unfortunatelly cost twice as much, but if you are not willing to spend that much money on a lip product, I would suggest you to try out the Revlon version instead. You can get the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains here for about 9€.

Clinique Chubby Sticks Review

I know that every beauty blogger is currently raving about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stains, but let me introduce you to their older cousins - Clinique Chubby Sticks. I bought these babies on an airplane ride back from Dubai a few months ago, and I am so glad I did!

They are described as moisturizing lip colour balms, which I think is a perfect wording for these products. They go on smoothy and moisturize your lips just like nourishing lip balms and are therefore perfect for dry lips as well. What I love about them is that they don't dry out your lips even when the product rubs off, which I've experienced with the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks

I got them in three colors: Mega Melon, Woppin' Watermelon and Super Strawberry. I love all of them, but my favorite has to be the Woopin' Watermelon. It's my favorite summer lip product and I'm definitely repurchasing it when I run out of it.

As you can see, these products are not very pigmented, but you can definitely build the color up. I know that some of you won't like the lack of pigmentation, but I think they are amazing if you want to go for a natural, effortless look. I also love the subtle sheen they give!

All in all, I can't say anything bad about this product. The only downside is the price. They aren't exactly cheap - one of them will cost you about $16 - but I think they're worth it.

UAE Day 6: Beach & Shopping (HAUL)

Day 6 of my UAE vacation was definitely my favorite one. We spent the day at the Jumeirah Beach Park - I don't have any photos to show you because you're not allowed to take them there - and then went to my favorite shopping centre 'The Dubai Mall' in the afternoon. We stayed there until very late, when all the shops started to close, but I really wish I would have an additional day for shopping. Because I ran out of time to go to all the shops I had planned to, and because almost all the stuff from my to-buy list turned out to be sold out, I have to admit I was quite disappointed with my shopping experience by the end of the day. UNTIL my mother surprised me with the last two items because she felt sorry for me, of course. :)

By the way, thank god for my relative from Australia! She is now on the hunt for the three pairs of shoes I wanted to buy in Dubai, so if you happen to live in Melbourne and see a lady with curly hair running around the city with bags of shoes in one hand and a measuring tape in the other - that's her!

Now back to Dubai and my collective shopping haul. Here is what I had managed to snatch up...
A silk scarf from the market located in the old centre of Dubai.

Some Soap & Glory products found at Boots in Al Ain.
Beauty products from Topshop: Moving House nail polish, Brighton Rock lipstick & Barefoot nail polish.

Some cute nail files from Bath & Body Works.

MAC's Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Blossom Culture and Satin Taupe eyeshadow.
Clinique Chubby Sticks & my favorite Chanel foundation.

Tops from Forever 21.
