NOTD: How I Matt Your Mother + Kitch Me If You Can
Sandra
| Ring - www.destinationpretty.com |
This new year's eve, I went for a rather unusual color combination on my nails. I decided to pair up Catrice's How I Matt Your Mother, which is a dark muted blue shade with a gray or even purple undertone, and a rose gold glitter explosion called Kitch Me If You Can. They look beautiful together, but I don't think the gorgeousess translates very well on camera. Anyway, I Matt Your Mother is actually a nail polish with a metallic finish, but since I did put another nail polish over it, it lost the metallic effect. Of course, I forgot to take photos beforehand, so if you still want to see how it looks like by itself, I can put up another NOTD post next time I'll be wearing it. And now a few words about Kitch Me If You Can. I'm obviously going through a bit of a rose gold glitter phase ever since I started my love affair with Rosie Lee, but this nail polish doesn't only contain rose gold glitters. There are also tons of little multi-colored (holographic?) glitters that I think are a great addition to the polish, because they nicely fill out the blank spaces. So, how are we liking the combo? :)

NOTD: Essie Blanc (& Catrice Million Dollar Baby)
Sandra
A few months ago, my sister started obsessing over while nail polish and soon enough the obsession reached me as well. The only problem I had is that all the white nail polishes I'd tried were crap. They were streaky and never seemed to dry, so my manicures always became one big mess. When a few weeks ago, I was standing before the nail polish rack in the drugstore with my 50% off Essie coupon in my hands, deciding which shades to take home with me, Essie's Blanc was the obvious choice. Being a huge Essie fan, I only hoped that their white nail polish will live up to my expectations. And luckily, it has! It is not streaky, dries fast and lasts for a very long time on my nails. You still have to be a little bit careful with the application, because if you put on layers that are too thick, it will get smudged and the application won't be perfectly even. I apply either three thin coats or one thin and one a little bit thicker coat to get it perfect.
I've been wearing Blanc all the time for the past two weeks, but I wanted to make my nails look a little bit more festive this weekend, now that Christmas is almost here, so I picked up Catrice's Million Dollar Baby and applied it over the white nail polish. I think the manicure looks super cute! You really can't go wrong with glitters during this time of the year, right? I'm not sure if it's noticable in the photo, but Million Dollar Baby actually contains two types of glitters - very tiny gold ones and some bigger silver chunks. I find it very convenient, as the silver as well as gold jewellery go very nice with it.
P.S. You can get the ring that I'm wearing here at Destination Pretty, my very own online store. It's currenty 10% off! :)

Catrice 'Rockby' Lip Balm Tint Review
Sandra
If you have watched my 'November Beauty Favorites' video, you probably already know how this review will go down. But if you haven't, well, I'm just gonna say it. This Catrice 'Rockby' Lip Balm Tint is flippin' amazing! I've been wearing it tons in the past few months and I don't see myself breaking up with it any time soon.
The shade is totally right up my alley, and the quality is equally amazing. I don't know if you've noticed, but there are two names describing this product - lip balm and tint. In my experience, these two formulas usually can't be found in the same product, because lip balms tend to be on the sheer and shiny side, while tints scream for matte, bold and long lasting. But when it comes to this product, the description makes total sense.
Catrice 'Rockby' Lip Balm Tint feels very creamy and moisturizing on my lips, but it also has a very strong colour payoff and lasts for ages on my lips. If I haven't convinced you yet to pick up this miracle in a pencil yourself, let me just tell you that this is the first bold lip product I actually wore outside my house and wasn't freaking out about it drying out my lips or getting smudged all over my face. I just love it! Unfortunatelly, I don't think it is still avaliable in the stores, because it was a part of the Matchpoint Limited Edition, but you can still get it online here.

Catrice & Essence Blogger Event Haul
Sandra
Guess who finally managed to upload the haul video I've been promising you to put up for the last two weeks? Sorry it took me so long, but as you probably already know, I got sick and lost my voice, so I couldn't film for more than a week. Also, I hope you don't mind long videos, because this one is super long. Like half an hour long. Sorry! But you know, I kind of picked up a lot of products at the event, so I couldn't make it any shorter. Oopsie! Let me know if you end up watching it and whether or not you've made it until the end. :D

Essence & Catrice Blogger Event
Sandra
I've been meaning to publish a post about the Essence & Catrice blogger event I attended last week quite a few days ago, but I got really sick and lost my voice, so I couldn't film a haul video that I promised you to include in this post. Unfortunatelly, I'm still sick and still haven't gotten my voice back, so I decided to publish the post about the event today, and film the haul video as soon as I feel and sound better.
Now back to the event. The Essence & Catrice blogger event was actually the first event I was invited to as a blogger and will always have a very special place in my heart. It more that exceeded my expectiations and I doubt that I will have an opportunity to attend an event as fabulous as this one ever again. As far as I know, this was the first (beauty) blogger-only event in Slovenia, and let me tell you, the people who organized it definitely know how to make beauty bloggers feel special.
The event was held at G Super Club, which is a part of G Design Hotel located in our capital city - Ljubljana. My camera was stuggling with taking good photos inside, so I suggest you to check out some shots of the beautiful location here. When we arrived at the hotel (me being all sweaty because of the horrible humid weather), we were greeted with pink champagne and invited to take a look around the room, which was filled with makeup! There were regular and limited edition stands of Catrice and Essence products everywhere you looked and I felt like I died and went to make-up heaven!
With all those beauty products around us, I feel like we didn't care about food and drinks at all, but look how cute even the food looked, especially the mini cakes with Essence's logo on them!
As I have said, the event was the bomb! We were all overwhelmed by the organizers' generosity, but all those free products were only a cherry on top. They really made us feel like princesses and the whole experience was just incredible. I really liked how I could finally browse through all of their products in peace, because when I go to a drugstore, a lot of limited edition products are already sold out and there are always so many people around the stands that it's really hard to take a good look at everything.
One of best parts of the whole experience was also finally meeting other Slovenian beauty bloggers in person. We are always chatting a lot via social networks and comments, and I sometimes feel like I've known them for ages, so it was really nice getting to know them in person as well. They are all super lovely and I can't wait to see them again soon, at another event or at a little self-organized get together. :)
You can check out their blogs here: Ivana Thinks Pink, Lovely Little Lux-uries, Moonchild Beauty Blog, Taya - My Little Beauty World, Cherry Colors, Tinna's Pink Place, Gejba - Parokeets, Anna. BeautyBlog, Passing Fancy. In case I forgot anyone, please let me know! :D

NOTD: Caught on the Red Carpet & Spark Me Up
Sandra
My mani looks a bit Christmassy today, but since it's been snowing like crazy where I live for the past month, it feels like Christmas anyway, so it's kind of appropriate. Right?
As you can see, I'm wearing two nail polishes. The first one is from Catrice. It's called 'Caught on the Red Carpet' and I won it in Deja's giveaway a few months ago. The second nail polish is from H&M and is called 'Spark Me Up'.
I'm really loving this combination! I think it looks quite chic. Unfortunatelly, my camera didn't want to capture the whole magic this time, so you can't see how gorgeous the manicure really is. The red nail polish is in person a little bit darker - I would call it maroon red, and the glitters look more subtle.

Penguin Mani
Sandra
It seems like I haven't done any nail art for ages! I've been doing my nails in a hurry for the past few months, so nail art just never crossed my mind to be honest. When I was ordering my new adorable penguin phone case, though, I made a decision to spend some of my spare time on creating penguins on my ring fingers. They don't look perfect, because I don't have the appropriate nail art tools and a steady hand, but I think they still turned out pretty well.
Here are the nail polishes I've used: Catrice's 'Snow Motion', Maybelline's 'Colorama 80', Avon's 'Classic Fit' and China Glaze's 'Peachy Keen'. So, do you like today's mani? :)

Nail of the Day: Just Berried!
Sandra
Let me introduce you to another one of my favorite fall nail polishes - Catrice's 'Just Berried!'. This is actually my sister's nail polish, but it's been sitting on my nail polish stand for the past few weeks, because I've been wearing it all the time. The color is perfect for the upcoming season, and what I also like about this one is that it doesn't chip easily. It lasts about five day on my nails!

Plastic Wrap Nails
Sandra
Yes, you've read the title of this post correctly, because all need for this manicure is some plastic wrap. And a few nail polishes, of course. :)
These are the nail polishes that I've used to achieve this look: OPI's base coat, Essence's Mr. Big, Avon's Luxe Lavender, Essence's Replay, Avon's Lemon Sugar, and Catrice's top coat.
After I painted my nails with the base coat, I applied one layer of this gorgeous magenta pink color.
After the nail polish became dry, I put some pastel purple nail polish on the plastic wrap, and then lightly dabbed it on my nails. I continued doing the same thing with the rest of the colors to get the final look.
As you can see, this can get a bit messy...
...but when you clean the cuticles with a nail polish remover and put on some top coat, you get a really pretty nail design! How do you like it? Will you be trying it out?

Nail of the Day
Sandra
I was browsing through Pinterest the other day and I saw a cute nail design that I decided to try out myself. The only thing you need to do to achieve this look is paint your nails white and then draw on some blue and glittery stripes. Easy peasy and cute! :)
Products used: Essence's Multi Dimension XXXL Shine Nail Polish in Perfectly True, OPI's Natural Nail Base Coat, China Glaze's Bahamian Escape Nail Polish, China Glaze's Tinsel Town Nail Polish & Catrice's Quick Dry and High Shine Top Coat.

20$ Make-up Challenge
Sandra
Deja recently tagged me to do the 20$ make-up challenge, which means that I had to do my full face make-up with products worth less than 20$ (=16.30€). And let me tell you, this was way more difficult than it sounds. First of all, make-up in my country is much more expensive than it is in the USA, so you don't have a large selection of cheap products. Essence is probably the only brand that has cheap products which are not horrible. Secondly, I discovered that most make-up products I use are pretty darn expensive, so they were out of the question. The only thing that I could do was go to the store and try to find cheap products for this challenge, but I didn't want to spend my money on products which I would never use again, so what I did was try to find the cheapest products in my sister's make-up storage (except for the concealer and the eyeshadow duo - those are mine). Oh, and lastly, the brushes are also included in the 20$ mark, so I couldn't use them either.
Anyway, here are the products I've used:
♥ Essence's Clear & Matt Foundation €2.50
♥ Collection 2000's Lasting Perfection Concealer €5.30 (avaliable here)
♥ Catrice's The Giant Mascara €5
♥ Essence's Stay With Me Lipgloss €2.5
♥ Elf's Duo Creme Eyeshadow €1.9
The sum up of the prices is 17,20 €, which is 1 euro above the price point, but considering the fact that I worked with the things I already have at home, I think that's good. Right?
First, I put on some Essence's foundation. With my hands. I really missed my Sigma stippling brush, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this foundation. It wasn't patchy and the coverage was comparable to the Garnier BB Cream. The next product was concealer. I could use a cheaper one, but the Collection 2000 one is the only one I've found that somewhat covers my terrible under under eye circles, so I just went with that one.
For my eyes, I first used Elf's Cream Eyeshadow Duo that I ordered from the UK about a year ago I think, but I've never used it before this challenge. And I'll probably never use it again, because it sucks. Big time. Not only is it extremely sticky, but it is also unblendable, smudgy, and creases like hell. Now the mascara. I've used my sister's Catrice's mascara which she loves, but I didn't find it very good. It clumped my lashes and I got it all over my lid, which doesn't usually happen to me. I also really missed my eyelash curler. I got so used to using it and I would definitely recommend one to every single one of you if you don't own it yet. It's a miracle product! Oh, and I was also really bummed I couldn't fill in my eyebrows. That makes the biggest difference to my face.
The last thing I used was Essence's lip gloss. I usually go for a lipstick instead of a lipgloss because I don't like my lips to be sticky, but this one was quite nice. I really liked the color too!

Summer Nails
Sandra
I had a little bit more time on my hands the other day (back when I still had exams), so I decided to do some quick and easy nail art. I wanted to include summery yellow color and paint each of my nails differently. This is what I came up with. I think it looks really cute, what about you?

To achieve this look, I used four different nail polishes - Essence's My Yellow Fellow, Essence's Perfectly True, Catrice's Quick Dry & High Shine Top Coat, and Essence's Blair glitter topper.

Nail of the Day: Genious in the Bottle
Sandra
A few days ago, my sister surprised me with the Catrice's Genious in the Bottle nail polish. She saw it at the drugstore and decided to get it for me because she immediately remembered my last year's Chanel Peridot obsession. Awww. :)

As you can probably see, this nail polish is not an exact dupe of the Peridot. I would say it's a bit more bronzy, but under certain angles, when the green undertone appears, it looks exactly the same! Not bad cosidering it only costs about 3€. The Chanel one is 10 times more expensive!
P.S. The application and the staying power are also great! Ignore my super smudged nails. I forgot to wait for them to dry. Again.

Nail of the Day: Cotton Candy At Eiffel Tower
Sandra
I've already shown you this nail polish in the last week's 'Mini Haul' post, but I haven't shown you how it looks on nails yet. As you can see, the color looks exactly the same as in the bottle - very pretty creamy, opaque nude. Application, on the other hand, is downright horrible. You need four coats to get it look like this, and because of so many coats, the polish just doesn't dry. I painted my nails two hours before I went to bed, and when I woke up, my nails were completely smudged. This is such a shame because I really love the color! Does anyone know any great nude nail polishes similar to this one?

Nail of the Day: I Scream Peach! by Catrice Cosmetics
Sandra
This is the nail polish I've been wearing all summer long and I'm still not getting tired of it. I'm kind of obsessed with coral right now. The funny thing about this nail polish is that it ''changes'' depending on light. In normal conditions, it looks coral, in bright sun, it has this pastel shrimp colour, and in the dark it looks orange. The only thing that I don't like about this nail polish is that it chips quite easily and you have to re-apply it at least every 3 days.
